I bought a Shade Box to fill in a spot in my front that I have not figure out what to plant that will survive there. I was so thrilled that I didn't have to spend time researching and planning what might look good there, and what might survive. It made it 1,000 times nicer than they gave you 3-4 options of how to plant the garden. We just planted in the Spring but it's late July and they are all doing great. I can't say enough good thing about this!

UPDATE: Resource Central reached out and credited me half the fee. Thanks for understanding and making it right. The program sounds good and the goal is very laudable but be aware their service is not good. I contracted with them for the lawn removal program. All they ended up doing was running a sod cutter over the lawn and took basically just the very top of the grass itself. I am left with all the roots and will need to remove them myself. The surface left behind is in no way ready to be planted with xeric plants as they state on their website. The crew claimed the roots are couch grass and that they only can remove Kentucky Bluegrass. The grass in question is absolutely Kentucky Bluegrass and was installed a little over two years ago as sod. The roots that they were β€œunable to remove” I can easily pull up by hand. If this was a free program I would accept it but I paid over $600 for 500 square feet of grass removal. I could have rented a sod cutter myself and got the same results for half the cost. The fact that this is subsidized by our water utility is a shame. The response was super dismissive saying that my grass was couch grass or deep rooted natives and basic

I picked up my first Garden in a Box yesterday and already have the plants in the ground. What an amazing service to gardeners wanting to plant native and more drought tolerant plants! Because emails had warned the size of the plants were small, I expected to fill half the garden space I did. The planting guide was very helpful, as were the tips for planting, watering and soil amendment. Drive-through pickup was quick and easy, and the volunteers were friendly. Definitely recommend for an overall wonderful experience!

We LOVE our Garden in a Box! The plants are small when they arrive, but they grow quickly and flower at different times to keep the landscaping beautiful through the season. The Sunlight Fiesta box attracts so many wonderful bees and hummingbirds!

I absolutely love what Resource Central does, especially the Garden in a Box program. Yes, the plants are young and small (as mentioned by other reviewers) and yes, there may be plant substitutions, which you are made aware of ahead of time (pointed out by another reviewer) and yes, they will take a few seasons to establish (which is expected – the photos are of what the garden will look like when it matures). The plants are a steal based on what you pay for and the variation is hand-picked for you. Such a huge time saver! Last year, we purchased the largest Garden in a Box available to replace an entire side of our front yard. There were 50 plants and nearly all of them survived their first winter. We had to replace a few plants, but that's it! they are doing amazingly well and thriving. We purchased another smaller Garden in a Box this year for the front part of the other side of our front yard, and they are doing great as well (except for some rabbit and squirrel damage – we purchased some natural repellant which seems to be working). All in all, this organization is doing GREAT things and I tell everyone about it. I absolutely love the brochures they put together on the diff
